Met Gala: The Most Talked About Looks Of All Time

Since it’s launch over 60 years ago, The Met Gala soon became one of the most anticipated fashion events of the year. From Princess Diana’s 1996 ahead of the times’s boudoir dress and choker look to Rihanna’s 2015 bold yellow fur trimmed cape – it really is a battle of the bravest in fashion. Here, we bring you our top *** of the best, worst, and most memorable looks of all time.

Who could forget Beyonce’s nearly nude look in 2015. Theme: China Through The Looking Glass.

Another from 2015 and another of the most memorable Met Gala fashion statements.

Taylor Swift broke her usual country girl style at last year’s gala, opting more a snakeskin inspired gothic look. Theme: Manus x Machina. Will 2017 see her bring back the Taylor we know and love?

Choosing our favourite Rosie H-W look was the most difficult (why can’t we look like this!?) But after much deliberation, we couldn’t help but swoon the most over her 2014 fierce yet sophisticated look – not forgetting those beautiful brushed up brows. Theme: Charles James Beyond Fashion.

Opinions aside, there’s no debate to the fact this is certainly one of the most memorable Met Gala looks of all time (even if we wish it wasn’t). Year: 2016. Theme: Manus X Machina.

Lady in red – Sienna Miller opts chic embellished separates paired with a muted make up look, and we LOVE it. year: 2016. Theme: China Through The Looking Glass.

A deep berry lips + perfecly defined brows paired with a soft and elegant ‘bridalesque’ dress = a match made in heaven. Year: 2013. Theme: Punk Chaos To Couture.

We can’t help but love Emma Stone’s 2012 girl next door look. Theme: Schiaparelli and Prada Impossible Conversations.

From a Rock Style theme in 1999 to Manus X Machina in 2016 – Amber Valletta shows us she can still rule the red carpet even after 20 years!

Forget Taylor Swift’s squad – now this is what we call #SquadGoals. Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss from the 1995 Met Gala. Theme: Haute Couture.

Ahead of the times in 2013 with the latest slicked hair trend, Jessica Biel showcased a soft beauty look paired with a septum ring to match the Punk: Chaos To Couture theme.

JLo certainly lived by the famous ‘if you got it, flaunt it’ ethos at the 2015 gala. Theme: China Through The Looking Glass.

Will the 2017 stars be able to compete? Tune in on our Instagram (@highdefinition_beauty) tonight to find out.
