What is CBD and why is it being used in beauty?
CBD or cannabidiol is a rich, natural ingredient derived from the cannabis plant that is linked to all kinds of health and wellness benefits. Whilst it might sound odd to use the cannabis plant in beauty, the human body has a natural biological affinity to the cannabis plant as it shares a part of our genetics – we actually share more than 40% of our genome with cannabis plants. The result of this is that internally, our body instantly recognises it and is able to use the chemical to improve health and wellness.
Will CBD give me any hallucinogenic side effects?
Although CBD is derived from the cannabis plant, it is an entirely different element to the psychoactive (and illegal) component, THC, so you don’t have to worry about getting the munchies. As CBD can’t enter the blood stream, it works directly on the skin to benefit areas through its anti-inflammatory and healing properties.

Is CBD beauty here to stay?
Whilst cannabis hemp has been a skincare ingredient for years, CBD is relatively new to beauty world, meaning there hasn’t been an opportunity to make any long-term studies. This said, results that the chemical is linked to healing and improving seem to speak for themselves. As the biggest up and coming trend of the moment, we can’t see it going anywhere anytime soon.
