Working in an office environment my entire working life, working in the beauty industry wasn’t something I ever saw myself doing. But as they say, life has a funny old way of throwing you the odd curve ball.
I got my first curve ball in March 2012 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and a second later that same year, when my cancer returned. Unlike a lot of ladies, I actually didn’t mind losing my hair at all but losing my brows really got me down. It wasn’t until that point I truly realised the importance of our brows to the overall look and structure of our faces. It was then, that my brow obsession was born!
The brow obsession begins
I would spend many a late night, unable to sleep, researching how to make it look like I had some brows. It was during that research that I came across the HD Brows course. Straight away it peaked my interest, but having not come from a beauty background, and being a single mum in her late 30’s with a mortgage, I doubted my capabilities and parked the idea.
In 2013, I had the opportunity to take voluntary redundancy. After everything I’d been through, I really felt ready for a change. Realising that I had this massive opportunity, I took a deep breath and took a chance. I gave myself 12 months; if it didn’t work I could always go back into administration… right?
My HD Brows journey
I was nervous attended my training, expecting everyone to have already worked in beauty for years. However, I was very quickly put at ease once I realised that the other students came from a mixture of backgrounds. I left the course with a fire in my belly and an eagerness to learn more.
Initially, I set myself up in a spare room at home. Later, I set up a log cabin in my garden, which both I and my clients absolutely love!
I continued to work my way up to a Master Stylist. Here, I was given the opportunity to work with some of the HD Brow team at a couple of events. We worked really hard, but I loved being part of a team again, and especially such a great one! I looked forward to hopefully having the chance to work with them again. Never did I believe I would one day get the ultimate opportunity to join the training team as an Elite Stylist! Now I get to share my brow obsession with not only my clients but also all the lovely students. I couldn’t be happier to be spreading the HD love.
I’ve since continued my brow obsession journey, training in microblading with K.B Pro. I look forward to being a part of the HD Microblading team in the future.
